"Can we rate this with a minus number?"

Mrs W is not a mean-spirited woman but she clearly did not enjoy the 'comedy' Me, Myself and Di. Indeed, it fell as flat as a Dutch pavement.

She even followed up her first inquiry by asking: "Do the actors actually think this is funny?"

I presume so because I heard a YouTube interview with the film's star, Katy Clayton, who reckoned it was the feel-good antidote to months of lockdown.

Sadly, we watched it stony-faced.

Chris Green's movie attempts to make a Bridget Jones figure out of Clayton's character, Janet Brown, a lovelorn supermarket worker.

Her cousin, Di (Lucy Pinder), cajoles her into using a raffle prize of a trip to a holiday camp in Rhyl and re-imagine herself as Jeanette De Brun.

The problem for brassy Di is that Janet unexpectedly and, in her eyes, inexplicably, steals her light.

Well, she falls in love at first sight with a geek (Tyger Drew-Honey) with a stammer and Harry Potter glasses.

I'm afraid the script relies on Hi Di Hi cliches surrounding the personalities in holiday camps and unlikeable main characters.

And, unfortunately, neither Clayton, Drew-Honey or Pinder have the comic ability to pull the film out of the fire.

Put simply, it was a waste of 93 minutes.

Reasons to watch: If you enjoy juvenile humour, you might appreciate it

Reasons to avoid: Wooden acting and no laughs

Laughs: None

Jumps: None

Vomit: Yes

Nudity: None

Overall rating: 2/10
