Well, that has to be the longest title of any movie I have reviewed since the beginning of everyfilm.co.uk ten years ago.

But that may be the only reason that Preparations To Be Together For An Unknown Period Of Time lives long in the memory.

It's not that it is a bad picture - there is a smart edge of mystery to Lili Horvát's drama but, ultimately, it does not fulfil its promise.

It stars Natasa Stork as Vizy Márta, a beautiful brain surgeon who turns up to meet a man on Liberty Bridge in Budapest with the idea of beginning a lifelong romance.

Her potential new partner (Viktor Bodó) doesn't show and she tries to track him down.

It transpires that they had only briefly met at a conference in America and she had become obsessed with him.

Horvát's movie builds from there, adding layers of intrigue as to why a feted surgeon should walk away from her top job in New Jersey to come to a rundown hospital in Budapest.

She has to win over colleagues who are suspicious of her motives while taking a low-grade apartment where she can organise stalking of the aforementioned fella.

Stork carries off the lead role well, keeping the audience guessing as her character keeps up surveillance of her target.

And the film's bleakness and soundtrack juxtaposed against her glamour had me gripped for quite a while.

The problem is its last half hour when it fails to convert that early promise and drifts into the surreal.

Nevertheless, it still has its very long name to trade on.
